Time and Patience are of top priority for completing a job application online to provide any chance of positive results.
A vital element for any type of consideration from a potential employer is the first impression from your submitted application.
Is the application complete?
Is the information provided thorough and accurate?
Are words spelled correctly?
Data submitted per application instructions?
And so on.
Remember the adage, "haste makes waste" and allow yourself adequate time, which initially will be much more than anticipated, and remain calm. See the suggestion below regarding having your information at hand as you start the application to save time.
Organization
Keep track of submitted applications, contacts, and progress.
Very important - Keep listing of usernames and passwords associated with every application!

1. Your personal info:
Full name, address, phone nunbers, email address, etc.
2. Education
3. Employment History
Gather information for all employers, begin with most recent and work backwards
4. References
Name, address & phone
*Inform references that prospective employers may be calling.

Use this form, which is in essence an application form which you may record the data typically needed for an online application (you will need to print a blank copy for your personal use). Prepare this ahead of time, and you will have the information at hand you need to apply online which will make the online process less taxing on your brain AND will save time!
